Hey!
Has anyone seen my
CREATIVE MOJO?!?!
I thought I left it on the counter by my car keys.
Come to think of it, has anyone seen my car keys?
So I can DECORATE SEASONALLY
with the best of them.
My decor skills aren't too bad really. In fact, I was pretty okay.
Or at least I USED to be.
You just had to have the ideas and the stuff
to decorate with.
Oh, let me tell ya, I have the stuff.
Lots
Of
Stuff.
Lots!!
I got tons of stuff. That's not the problem.
I even have stuff left in my antique barn I can use for decorating any season or holiday of the year.
The stuff may not look real pretty in these pictures but everything cleans up nice with a little
soap and water. And disinfectant.
I have little creativity left in me; that's the problem.
And the small amount of decor talent I have left is rather, uh, open for interpretation.
It wasn't always like this.
Last Fall I had no problem putting together seasonal vignettes in the house.
In fact, last year this fall vignette was kind of cute on top of the radiator cover,
wasn't it?
And it became even more cuter when Vinny made himself part of the display on a daily basis.
One problem though.
For days, I kept having to pick that orange box on the left up off the floor.
I could not figure out why that box kept falling off five times a day.
And then one day
I caught Vinny red-handed.
I saw Vinny take his paw and swipe that box right off that register cover.
And then look down at the fallen object like,
"I hope you're REALLY dead
THIS time
Box."
*sigh*
Look below but don't be jealous.
Holy crap,
it looks like a two year old put this together!
My decorating mojo is off;
I just can't get it together.

Fall season in Iowa.
dining room table....
ta-daaaa.....drum roll please...
Wow.
Stunning, isn't it?
Told ya I lost my mojo.
But I do love love love this super sweet turkey salt and pepper shaker set my
mother-in-law found at the Rug Cottage And Barntiques. Love them.
Simply breathtaking.
This turquoise and white scheme just SCREAMS Fall this year, doesn't it??!!!
I'm especially diggin' the work shirt and belt hanging out of the candy bowl in this picture.
Good Golly Miss Molly, I NEED HELP!
See, I'm usually always one season ahead of the calender.
This predilection must go back to the antique shop I ran out of my barn and my need to set up seasonal displays well before the season approached.
So, really, I've bypassed Fall this year. :(
Wanna know the reason for my lack of mojo with Fall decorating this year?
I'll give ya one guesshohoho

Yup!
That's right........
Oh Christmas tree,
I've
missed
you!
Christmas!
YAY!
Gosh, it seems like for-ever!
and
your warm snuggly-ness snuggle .....things
and stained glass windows
and people in prayer at church celebrating the birth of The Son
and candy canes
and hot chocolate
and decorating a tree or two
and big dinners that make you want to never eat again or until the next morning comes
and jigsaw puzzles
and having the heat go off on Christmas Eve two years ago but having it come back on again two hours later
and shiny sparkly things
and nice smelling Christmas candles
and vintage Christmas albums playing on a 1940's turntable and it feels like you're really listening back in 1950 because the sound is so scratchy and frankly quite tin-ny
and don't play Elvis Presley's "I'll Be Home For Christmas" because your mother-in-law will get weepy
and soft, warm quilts made by your mother
and asking your sister to make up a variety plate of Christmas treats because you're too lazy and she'll do it because you guilt her into it by reminding her you saved her life six years ago with a bone marrow donation. Sheeez, I have to do EVERYTHING around here!
Ooops, I mean have a happy fall Sunday!
Only 90 days till Christmas :)
