Did I ever
show you
a picture
of my front porch?
No?
This front porch is just one of hundreds and hundreds of centuries old porches located in Providence, Rhode Island.
Tim and I are in beautiful Providence, Rhode Island assisting our daughter
in getting her apartment together.
Our daughter is a graduate student
at Brown University this year.
Let's call her Sweetness.
Tim and Sweetness are standing on my
for reals front porch,
the one I was so embarrassed to show you that I instead tried to pass off that blue house porch up above as my own.
I know, I know. My porch could use some sprucing up. Some more detail.
But if you ever saw the roofline of my house, you would see that the detail there more than makes up for the sparse porch space.
It's a church.
It's not the first time I've lied on this here blog.
You should be used to that by now.
I will not tell another lie and say this is my summer home.
I will not tell a lie and say this is my summer home.
I will not tell a lie and say this is my summer home.
It is wrong to lie.
Lying is bad.
Do not lie Angie.
Don't do it.
Don't do it.
You know where liars go.
OKAY, OKAY! Sheez! The house above is another gorgeous historic house in Providence on our short walk from Sweetness's apartment to the Brown University campus.
And it's a gorgeous walk!
meticulously maintained.
As we continue our walk to campus, we arrive at
The Literary Arts Building,
where Sweetness will become more literary.
We walk to the Green courtyard area where more Brown buildings are located. And countless chairs from the undergraduate opening ceremony that had just ended moments earlier.
Brown was founded in 1764, the 3rd college in New England, the 7th college in America.
This building was built in a Romanesque style.
And when you walk inside...
Sayles Hall was built in 1881 as a multi-use center and was was used for ceremonies,
alumni functions etc.
Also kind of interesting is the fact that the Brown baseball team held some practices in this hall when it was first built. How they did that with those stained glass windows is compelling.
To make sure Sweetness was comfortable with her new setting,
Tim pretended to instruct
while Sweetness
pretended to think.
Sweetness showed us a couple more areas on campus...
And we wound back up at the Brown bear statue on the Green.
Lots of students were posing for their parent's cameras.
Everyone seemed happy;
students and parents.
Although all the parents looked tired and drained to be honest with ya.
And then we made Sweetness pose in front of the Bear.
And Sweetness just laughed.
She apparently was not aware that we were serious.
Hope everyone is having a fantastic Labor Day!
